Why design an energy efficient home?

Look at your last electric bill, say July of 2008, you live in the metro Phoenix area and the it was $350 or more. Look at your March bill when you were not cooling your home, $85. So it cost you $270 to cool your home and most of that was peak time, at the really high rates. Now think 2012. Lets say a 25% per year increase puts your electric bill just under $800.
